Crackdown on Scammers Reveals 35 Billion Baht in Circulation

Bangkok: In a significant crackdown on scam operations, government spokesperson Siripong Angkasakulkiat announced that authorities have uncovered a total circulation of 35 billion baht in just 38 days. This figure marks an unprecedented effort in the fight against fraudulent activities.

According to Thai News Agency, the statistics provided by the Prime Minister's Office highlight a series of successful operations targeting online gambling networks. A major breakthrough occurred on October 17th, when a single case revealed an annual turnover of 15 billion baht. The most recent operation, conducted just yesterday, uncovered an additional 20 billion baht in turnover. Altogether, the crackdown has captured scam networks responsible for a total turnover of over 35 billion baht within a relatively short period.

Siripong further clarified the significant progress made by comparing these figures with previous statistics. From the start of the year until mid-July, only around 1 billion baht had been seized from scam operations. The recent accomplishments, therefore, represent a substantial increase in efforts and effectiveness against these illegal activities.
