Bangkok: The Bank of Thailand's board has appointed four qualified members to the Monetary Policy Committee (MPC), with Methee taking the position for his first term. According to Thai News Agency, the board appointed these members for a three-year term starting November 1, 2026. Methee Supapong will be replacing Paiboon Kittisrikangwan, while Chaow Kengchon, Somchai Hanhiran, and Saowanee Thairungroj will continue into their second terms.
Mr. Chiranuwat Thanyacharoen, Secretary of the Board of Directors of the Bank of Thailand, announced that the decision was made during a meeting on August 26, 2026. The meeting focused on selecting and appointing qualified members to the MPC to replace those whose terms are set to expire on October 31, 2026. The newly appointed members are expected to contribute significantly to the committee's function starting from November 1, 2026.
The announcement details the continuation of Mr. Chaow Kengchon, Mr. Somchai Hanhiran, and Ms. Saowanee Thairungroj into their second terms, highlighting the board's confidence in their capabilities. Mr. Methee Supapong's selection marks a new addition to the committee's dynamic, as he takes over from the retiring Mr. Paiboon Kittisrikangwan.
