Bangkok: Cold weather has swept across Thailand, with temperatures in Nakhon Phanom dropping to an astonishing low of 7.3 degrees Celsius. In Bangkok, residents experienced a sharp chill, as the temperature plummeted to 15.6 degrees Celsius at Suvarnabhumi Airport, marking one of the coldest days in recent memory.
According to Thai News Agency, the frigid conditions were accompanied by light rainfall in certain regions. Over a 24-hour period, the highest recorded rainfall was 8.9 mm in Muang Yala District, Yala Province. However, the Bangkok area reported no rain during this time, as confirmed by the city's Drainage Office.
In contrast to the cold snap, the previous day's highest temperature in Thailand was recorded at Phuket Airport in Thalang District, reaching 32.4 degrees Celsius. Meanwhile, Bangkok saw a peak temperature of 31.0 degrees Celsius at the Queen Sirikit National Convention Center, Khlong Toei District.
The abrupt temperature drop has caught many by surprise, as Thailand is typically known for its warm climate. Residents are advised to take necessary precautions to stay warm as the cold spell continues to affect various parts of the country.
