Chulaphan emphasized that the no-confidence motion submitted should be seen as a systematic scrutiny rather than criticism or disapproval, which is a normal process for opposition parties.
According to Thai News Agency, Chulaphan addressed the Prime Minister's remarks suggesting that a no-confidence motion could lead to the dissolution of Parliament. He argued that such motions are part of the democratic process, meant for government scrutiny rather than condemnation. Chulaphan urged the government to view the motion as an opportunity for accountability, suggesting that if the government is confident in its integrity and actions, it should not be concerned. He highlighted the importance of open debates in Parliament as a means for the government to answer questions and clarify misunderstandings to both the legislative body and the public.
Chulaphan also discussed the challenges surrounding constitutional amendments, noting the slow progress of the Constitution Amendment Committee. He expressed doubt over the likelihood of successful amendments due to the political atmosphere and procedural hurdles. He urged the government not to hold constitutional amendment efforts hostage and emphasized the need to prioritize national interests. Chulaphan underscored that while constitutional amendments are important, they should not hinder actions to prevent corruption and other national issues.
In response to questions about the potential submission of a no-confidence motion when Parliament reconvenes on December 12, Chulaphan stated that no decision has been made. The party would consult with senior executives to determine the appropriate timing and actions. He also addressed the delays in the constitutional amendment process, explaining that the short timeline and legislative requirements have contributed to the slow progress. Rangsiman Rome, a deputy leader of the Prachachon Party, urged the Prime Minister to remove Dr. Thammanat Prompao from his position, highlighting the Pheu Thai Party's efforts in reducing scams in the past. The party intends to closely monitor the government's actions to address the growing scammer issue.
