Bangkok: Chavalwat Chanthapadaval, also known as "Goodview," secured a historic gold medal for the Thai swimming team in the men's 3-meter springboard diving event at the SEA Games, held at Assumption University, Suvarnabhumi Campus. This victory marks Thailand's first gold in diving in 22 years.
According to Thai News Agency, Chavalwat's performance was marked by precision and execution, earning him a score of 378.30 points. His success breaks a long-standing dry spell in the sport for Thailand, the last gold having been won by Suchart Pichit in Vietnam in 2003. Suchart, now serving as the head coach of the Thai national diving team, was present to witness Chavalwat's triumphant achievement.
Singapore's divers claimed both the silver and bronze medals in the event. Meanwhile, Thailand's Petty Officer 3rd Class Thitipoom Maksing finished in sixth place with a score of 351.75 points. The Thai swimming team also celebrated victories in other events, with Kamonchanok Khwanmuang winning the women's 10-kilometer race and Ratwit Thammananthachoti triumphing in the men's 10-kilometer race.
