Yarang: A burnt-out sedan was discovered in a rubber plantation in Yarang District, Pattani Province, raising suspicions of its involvement in the recent shooting of the Khao Tum Subdistrict Administrative Organization's deputy secretary.
According to Thai News Agency, the vehicle was found by police and security forces after Pol. Col. Wirit Chedo, Superintendent of Ban Sorong Police Station, received a report at 5:10 PM on October 17, 2015. The car, completely burned to the ground, was located in Ban Charasato, Village No. 4, Khao Tum Subdistrict. Authorities promptly secured the area, with plans for forensic officers to conduct a thorough investigation the following morning.
Initial police investigations suggest that the vehicle may have been used by the perpetrators responsible for the shooting of Mr. Muhammad Noor Awae, the deputy secretary of the Khao Tum Subdistrict Administrative Organization. The attack occurred earlier the same day at 1:30 PM in front of the Koh Bator Mosque, Village No. 5, Mae Mawi Subdistrict. The suspects reportedly set the vehicle on fire to eliminate evidence.
Efforts are underway to gather evidence and trace the perpetrators' escape route. Authorities are also reviewing CCTV footage from the area to expedite the investigation and apprehend those involved.
