Bangkok: Border trade and cross-border trade in February 2025 expanded by 19.9%, supporting the overall picture of the first two months to continue expanding. Ms. Sasikarn Wattanachan, Deputy Government Spokesperson, revealed figures for border trade and cross-border trade in February 2025, with a total trade value of 154,354 million baht, an expansion of 19.9% when compared to the same period in 2024, with exports of 86,020 million baht (+20.8%) and imports of 68,334 million baht (+18.8%). Thailand had a trade surplus in February 2025 of 17,686 million baht, resulting in a total trade value of 299,494 million baht (+10.9%) for the first 2 months of 2025, with exports of 164,057 million baht (+12.1%), imports of 135,437 million baht (+9.6%), and Thailand having a trade surplus of 28,621 million baht.
According to Thai News Agency, in February 2025, border trade with four neighboring countries had a total trade value of 86,543 million baht (+8.9%), of which exports were 50,820 million baht (+5.6%), imports were 35,723 million baht (+13.8%), and Thailand had a total trade surplus of 15,097 million baht. Border trade with the Lao PDR had the highest value at 28,078 million baht (+8.4%), followed by Malaysia at 25,401 million baht (+15.6%), Myanmar at 17,470 million baht (-3.3%), and Cambodia at 15,594 million baht (+15.0%). Important border export products in February 2025 included diesel at 3,355 million baht, other agricultural industry products (e.g., soybean meal, powdered milk) at 1,501 million baht, and other industrial products (e.g., electrical signal measuring devices, tiles) at 1,364 million baht. The first 2 months of 2025 saw border trade reach a total value of 170,340 million baht (+5.2%), with exports of 101,349 million baht (+3.1%) and imports of 68,992 million baht (+8.5%).
In terms of cross-border trade with third countries, in February 2025, the total trade value was 67,811 million baht (+37.7%), with exports of 35,200 million baht (+52.4%) and imports of 32,611 million baht (+24.8%). Cross-border trade to China registered the highest value at 38,537 million baht (+55.5%), followed by Singapore and Vietnam with values of 10,102 million baht (+48.8%) and 5,583 million baht (+20.6%), respectively. Important cross-border export products in February 2025 included hard disk drives at 7,571 million baht, TSNR rubber at 4,887 million baht, and concentrated latex at 2,373 million baht. This resulted in a total cross-border trade value of 129,154 million baht (+19.5%) in the first 2 months of 2025, with exports of 62,709 million baht (+30.5%) and imports of 66,445 million baht (+10.6%).
Furthermore, border and cross-border trade in February 2025 continued to maintain a continuous expansion trend, especially cross-border exports to China, Singapore, and Vietnam, which expanded by +80.5%, +48.8%, and +75.0%, respectively. Electronic products such as hard disk drives at 7,639 million baht (+131.3%), electrical circuit boards at 2,241 million baht (+141.5%), and computers and other equipment at 1,603 million baht (+91.3%) are still in demand in the world market. Meanwhile, rubber exports continued to expand well, such as TSNR block rubber at 4,926 million baht (+36.2%), concentrated latex at 3,606 million baht (+32.6%), and other rubber products at 2,255 (+72.8%).
