Bangkok: The government is advancing its commitment to children's development by investing in four new playgrounds in Bangkok aimed at fostering well-rounded growth. These playgrounds are designed to offer spaces for play, learning, and exercise, essential for promoting all-round development among children and youth.
According to Thai News Agency, Ms. Lalida Periswiwatana, Deputy Spokesperson for the Prime Minister's Office, highlighted the government's focus on systematically developing "child populations." The initiative aims to increase safe spaces for play, learning, and exercise, enhancing children's physical, intellectual, emotional, and social development. In 2025, four new playgrounds and learning spaces will be introduced across Bangkok.
These playgrounds are part of a broader effort to expand urban infrastructure that improves quality of life for children. The goal is to provide creative spaces close to home, aligning with the vision of "a city where children can live, and families can live well."
The Lumpini Park Community Playground in Pathum Wan District, which opened on December 3, 2025, is designed based on Universal Design principles to accommodate children of all abilities, including wheelchair users. It offers an outdoor area for exercise and imaginative play within the city's green spaces.
The "OKMD PLAYGROUND" in Bang Phlat district, opened on September 1, 2025, at Bang Yi Khan Wittayakom School, emphasizes learning through playing. The playground supports muscle control, balance, and life skills development.
In Khlong Toei District, a playground and learning center opened on September 20, 2025, as part of a community development project. This initiative is a result of public and private sector collaboration, transforming open spaces into safe play areas that promote holistic development.
The "Science Topia" playground in Watthana district, located within the Science Center for Education, opened on September 19, 2025. It is an indoor facility that integrates science, technology, and innovation learning through creative play activities.
The deputy spokesperson noted that increasing playgrounds and learning spaces is a strategic investment in the nation's future human resources. The government remains committed to supporting such developments, ensuring that Thai children have opportunities to grow healthily and enjoy a good quality of life from a young age.
