Bangkok: Bangkok is ramping up preparations for the February 8, 2026 election, surveying all polling stations, ensuring equipment is ready, and instructing officials to remain neutral. Ms. Worayanee Klinhomhual, Director of the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration's Department of Local Administration and Registration, stated that the BMA is continuously preparing to manage the parliamentary elections in Bangkok. This includes coordinating with all 50 district offices to survey polling locations and polling stations according to the district demarcation guidelines of the Bangkok Election Commission, using the same district divisions as the 2023 elections.
According to Thai News Agency, central polling stations have been prepared for advance voting, both within and outside the electoral districts, taking into account the convenience and safety of the public. Necessary materials and equipment for managing the election have also been surveyed and prepared, and the information has been communicated to the Election Commission office in Bangkok.
Meanwhile, the National Legislative Assembly (NLA), in collaboration with the Public Relations Office, district offices, and related agencies, is promoting voter education on various topics, including how to prepare to vote, how to check voter registration lists, how to study candidate information, procedures for adding or removing names from voter registration lists in case of inaccuracies, and how to report reasons for not being able to vote within the legally stipulated timeframe.
Ms. Worayanee reiterated that the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) is fully prepared to support the management of the parliamentary elections, both in terms of venues and personnel, to ensure a transparent, honest, and fair election, free from vote buying and selling. She also emphasized the importance of encouraging citizens to exercise their right to vote and instructed all BMA departments to strictly adhere to political neutrality guidelines and refrain from organizing any activities that may involve large gatherings of people during the election period.
