Bangkok: In a bid to provide essential support and moral encouragement to those affected by the ongoing tensions at the Thai-Cambodian border, Bangkok has inaugurated a new donation center. The 'Center for Sending Moral Support from Bangkok to Immigrants in Border Provinces' aims to assist evacuees by collecting items necessary for their well-being.
According to Thai News Agency, the Governor of Bangkok, Mr. Chadchart Sittipunt, emphasized the city's commitment to aiding those on the frontlines despite the geographical distance. The initiative, stationed at the Rattanakosin Room in Bangkok City Hall's Giant Swing, will not focus on military supplies but rather on items needed by civilians who may be forced to evacuate. This effort underscores the solidarity and compassion of Bangkok's residents.
The donation center will be operational from 7:30 a.m. on July 26, 2025, and will remain open 24 hours a day. Donations can also be made at any district office between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. The list of needed items includes mats, mosquito nets, power plugs, mosquito repellent, diapers, sanitary pads, soaps, bowls, shampoos, toothpaste, toothbrushes, and dried food. However, cash, drinking water, clothes, and fresh food are not accepted due to logistical challenges.
Governor Chadchart expressed the city's readiness to support frontline workers and a strong desire for peace. He reiterated the importance of unity and the need to protect the sovereignty and lives of the people, hoping for a swift return to normalcy.
Individuals interested in contributing can reach out to the center at the Rattanakosin Room, Bangkok City Hall, or call the provided contact numbers. The center welcomes donations and messages of encouragement, operating 24 hours a day, including public holidays, and at 50 Bangkok District Offices daily.
