Singapore: Anutin Charnvirakul, the Prime Minister and Minister of Interior of Thailand, along with a delegation of key ministers, visited Singapore to commemorate the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two nations. The visit, which aimed to promote cooperation across various sectors, included several significant engagements, such as delivering a special lecture at the SET Government Roadshow 2025 and meeting with prominent investors.
According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Anutin was accompanied by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance Mr. Ekniti Nitithanpraphas, Minister of Foreign Affairs Mr. Sihasak Phuangketkaew, Minister of Public Health Mr. Patana Promphat, and Minister of Commerce Ms. Suphajee Suthumpun. They departed from Don Mueang Military Airport 2 in Bangkok following an invitation from Singapore's Prime Minister, Mr. Lawrence Wong. The visit holds special significance as it coincides with the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Thailand and Singapore.
The day's itinerary began with an official welcome that included the VIP Orchid Naming Ceremony at the Singapore Botanic Gardens, followed by a formal reception at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Singapore. Bilateral discussions between the Prime Ministers of Thailand and Singapore took place, culminating in the exchange of agreements and a joint press conference. Later, Mr. Anutin paid a courtesy call on the President of Singapore and participated in the SET Government Roadshow 2025, where he addressed investors and engaged with the Thai community, including workers and students, before returning to Thailand.
During his time in Singapore, Mr. Anutin also continued bilateral discussions in the context of the ASEAN Summit. Key topics included enhancing food and energy security, advancing the digital and green economy, public health cooperation, elderly care, and combating transnational crime, with a focus on online scams. Two significant cooperation documents were expected to be signed: a Memorandum of Understanding on Rice Trade to bolster food security, and another between the Department of Medical Services and Singapore Health Services to enhance elderly care. These agreements are poised to drive forward economic cooperation and improve the quality of life for citizens of both nations.
