Yi Thanakun Unhappy with Film’s Lack of Police Coordination in Bribery Case.

Bangkok: Yi Thanakun has expressed deep regret over actor Film Ratthaphum's failure to coordinate with police following a summons in a bribery case. Thanakun, President of the Santi Prachadham Club, revealed his disappointment in an interview, lamenting the suffering of victims involved and questioning the actor's lifestyle choices. He emphasized the importance of remorse and warned that karma would eventually catch up with those using ill-gotten gains. According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Thanakun voiced his distress over having to learn about Mr. Ratthaphum's case through various channels. Adding to the situation, Mr. Ratthaphum was a presenter for K4, an investment company currently embroiled in controversy for its inability to allow investors to withdraw funds. Mr. Thanakun indicated plans to meet with police to assess Mr. Ratthaphum's potential culpability in the case. Mr. Thanakun questioned whether Mr. Ratthaphum was leveraging his fame and skills for quick wealth, rather than leading a conscientious l ife. Despite threats of a lawsuit from Mr. Ratthaphum, Mr. Thanakun affirmed his readiness to contest any legal action, motivated by a commitment to the victims' plight. Mr. Thanakun stressed the need for justice, particularly for affected individuals in Trang Province, whose distress had reportedly driven them to consider extreme actions. He reaffirmed his willingness to aid police investigations by providing necessary information, driven by empathy and a focus on evidence. Highlighting the broader issue of corruption, Mr. Thanakun referred to the case of Mr. Boonsong Teriyapirom, a former Minister of Commerce, who served seven years of a 48-year sentence for his role in a rice pledging scandal. He argued for stricter legal repercussions for corrupt practices, including the death penalty and asset seizure, to deter future offenses and provide restitution to victims.
