According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Wisut Chainarun, Chairman of the Coordinating Committee (Government Whip), confirmed that all 324 government MPs from all political parties are ready to consider the draft of the 2026 budget bill and are ready to accept the principle without any problems. Despite the current political trends and some instigations, Mr. Wisut expressed confidence in the whips' work and believed that there is no issue of dissolving the House of Representatives. He emphasized the importance of approving the draft budget bill due to the global economic challenges and the specific issues facing Thailand, such as the impact of the earthquake and the tariff wall from the United States. The government has allocated 157 billion baht to stimulate the economy, and any delay could cause further problems. Mr. Wisut trusts that politicians want to ensure the country's survival and economic well-being, ruling out the possibility of political accidents.
Mr. Wisut also addressed the appointment of bodyguards, stating that there is no need as the Pheu Thai Party has academics who prepare information for MPs, including various charts. He believes the time allocation for debates is sufficient, and each party will have time to contribute, minimizing potential issues.
Regarding the opposition's preparation to debate the transfer of the budget for the digital wallet project, Mr. Wisut assured that the government can justify the economic necessity of the project. He acknowledged differing opinions on the project's timing but stressed the urgency of stimulating the economy due to global problems. The government team is prepared to explain and answer questions during the debates. Mr. Wisut also detailed the 40-hour debate schedule, with each party receiving 20 hours. The sessions will aim to conclude by 5:00 p.m. on the last day and by 10:00 p.m. on other days to maximize benefit for observers. He believes the Prime Minister will participate in the budget debate, bringing the entire team to the parliament.
