Bangkok: Way Thaitanium, whose real name is Mr. Prinya Intachai, quietly arrived at the Central Investigation Bureau to acknowledge charges of jointly defrauding his wife, Nana Raibina. Accompanied by his lawyer, Saiyud Pengbunchu, Way Thaitanium met with Pol. Maj. Gen. Tatsapoom Jarupraj and other officials from the Economic Crime Suppression Division, following a summons related to accusations filed by victims.
According to Thai News Agency, Way Thaitanium utilized his usual tactic of entering the building through a back entrance and swiftly proceeded to the 9th floor to meet the investigators. The charges stem from allegations that a well-known businessman transferred a total of 14 million baht to Way Thaitanium's account in 10 installments since March 2022. The victim suspected both Way Thaitanium and Nana Raibina of being complicit in the fraud.
Lawyer Saiyud explained that Way Thaitanium was unaware of the fraudulent activities and only learned of the issue in October. Although he had begun repaying the debt amounting to 1.5 million baht, transferred directly to the victims, he maintained that he did not solicit any investments. Saiyud clarified that the 14 million baht was unrelated to a previous case involving 50 million baht.
The media attention surrounding the case has severely impacted the couple's financial situation. Events have been canceled, sponsors have withdrawn, and the value of their barbershop shares has plummeted from 300 million baht to 180 million baht. The couple is currently exploring options to settle the debt, including verifying if their house is mortgaged to any creditors.
