Suphan buri: Varawut Silpa-archa and five former Suphan Buri Members of Parliament (MPs) visited the Banharn Silpa-archa monument to seek blessings and good fortune before officially joining the Bhumjaithai Party. Varawut reassured the public that he has not abandoned the people of Suphan Buri and is committed to enhancing development in the region. In a gesture of apology, Praphat Phothisuthon announced a temporary leave of absence.
According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Varawut Silpa-archa, the former MP and leader of the Chart Thai Pattana Party (CTDP), alongside former CTDP MPs from Suphan Buri such as Mr. Sorachat Sujit, Mr. Nattawut Prasertsukwan, Mr. Nopadol Matrisri, Mr. Semerkhan Thiangtham, and Mr. Praphat Phothisuthon, paid their respects at the monument of Mr. Banharn Silpa-archa, Thailand's 21st Prime Minister. This act was part of their initiative before resigning from the CTDP and applying to join the Bhumjaithai Party on December 15. The ceremony was attended by notable figures including Mr. Udom Prongfah, Mayor of Suphan Buri Provincial Administrative Organization, and Mr. Atthapol Suwannasorn, Chairman of the Suphan Buri Provincial Administrative Organization Council.
Mr. Praphat, speaking at the monument, expressed their collective apologies for any past missteps, emphasizing their dedication to serving as government representatives for Suphan Buri. He highlighted their commitment to the development of Suphan Buri in line with Mr. Banharn's legacy, while temporarily stepping back from the Chart Thai Party to better serve their constituents.
In an interview, Mr. Varawut explained that the decision to join the Bhumjaithai Party stemmed from the challenges faced by smaller parties in gaining electoral support over the past nine years. With limited representation in the previous election, their ability to effect change was hindered. He drew parallels to Mr. Banharn's journey from Suphan Buri to Bangkok, stating the need to expand their capabilities and better serve the people of Suphan Buri and Thailand. Mr. Varawut emphasized their ongoing dedication to their hometown, inspired by Mr. Banharn's example.
Mr. Varawut concluded by stating that their current path seeks to fulfill Mr. Banharn's vision of a united Suphan Buri with improved living standards, aiming to work effectively for all Thai citizens.
