Bangkok: Officials in Providence, Rhode Island, have released video footage of the suspect in the Brown University shooting that resulted in two fatalities and injured nine others. The incident has prompted a massive manhunt and a security lockdown of the prestigious Ivy League institution.
According to Thai News Agency, security camera footage shows a suspect dressed entirely in black walking along the sidewalk of Hope Street. The footage, however, does not provide a clear view of the suspect's face or weapon. The suspect is seen exiting a side door of the Barus and Holley building, where they allegedly entered to open fire on students taking their final exams.
Authorities have mobilized more than 400 officers in pursuit of the suspect, who remains at large. Meanwhile, Brown University is under lockdown, and students still on campus have been transported to a makeshift safety center set up in the university's sports arena. Emergency vehicles and heavy security are present on the roads surrounding the university.
The shooting took place on Saturday evening local time. To date, two people have lost their lives, and nine others have been injured, with several in serious condition.
