Udom Sittivirachtham Elected as President of the Constitutional Court

Bangkok: Udom Sittivirachtham has been elected as the new president of the Constitutional Court. The Constitutional Court justices have officially voted for Udom Sittivirachtham to assume this crucial role.

According to Thai News Agency, the decision was made following the Senate's 24th meeting during its first ordinary session of the year, held on Tuesday, June 23, 2016. The meeting approved the appointment of Pol. Lt. Gen. Chakpong Wiwatwanich as a Constitutional Court Judge, in line with Section 8 (4) and Section 12, paragraph ten of the Constitutional Court Procedure Act B.E. 2018. The Office of the Constitutional Court was tasked with arranging for the approved candidates to meet and elect a new President of the Constitutional Court from among themselves.

In a joint meeting, which included the newly approved Constitutional Court judges and those who have not yet vacated their positions, it was resolved that Mr. Udom Sittivirachtham would take on the role of President of the Constitutional Court. The Office of the Constitutional Court plans to notify the Secretariat of the Senate about the election results, ensuring that all necessary legal actions are followed accordingly.
