Hanoi: Vietnamese authorities are assessing the damage from Typhoon Kalmaegi, which struck central Vietnam late on November 6th. The storm weakened as it made landfall, knocking down trees, damaging homes, and cutting off power.
According to Thai News Agency, local media reported one death in Dak Lak province from a house collapse, another in Gia Lai province, and three fishermen missing in Quang Ngai province. The Vietnamese government has deployed more than 268,000 troops for search and rescue operations and warned of continued heavy rain of up to 100 millimeters in central provinces from Thanh Hoa to Quang Tri, as well as flooding in low-lying areas.
