Singapore: Singapore has named a new orchid species, Vanchoanthe Anutin Thananon Charnvirakul, in honor of Prime Minister Anutin and his wife during their official visit to Singapore, reflecting the close Thai-Singaporean relationship.
According to Thai News Agency, at 10:40 a.m. (Singapore local time, which is 1 hour ahead of Thailand time), Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Anutin Charnvirakul and his wife, along with their entourage, traveled to the Singapore Botanic Gardens to attend the VIP Orchid Naming Ceremony. The event was held in their honor on the occasion of their official visit to the Republic of Singapore.
The Prime Minister's Office spokesperson revealed that the VIP Orchid Naming Ceremony is a prestigious tradition held by the Singapore government. It welcomes world leaders and dignitaries from around the world, where new orchid varieties are named as a symbol of friendship and good relations between the two countries.
At the ceremony, the Singapore government named the new orchid species Vanchoanthe Anutin Thananon Charnvirakul. This vigorous and well-growing hybrid orchid has erect inflorescences of approximately 30 cm long, each cluster bearing 3-6 densely packed 5 cm flowers. The sepals and petals are gradients of pale lavender and white, with faint purple veining and a strikingly vibrant purple lip. The species was named in honor of the Prime Minister and his wife on the occasion of their visit to the Singapore Botanic Gardens, reflecting the enduring friendship and ties between Thailand and Singapore.
Following the ceremony, the Prime Minister and his wife expressed their gratitude to the Singaporean government for the warm welcome and expressed their honor to have the orchid named after them. They emphasized that the ceremony was another symbol of the friendship, stable relations, and close cooperation between the two countries, which has continued for more than 60 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations and will continue to grow on the basis of understanding, trust, and cooperation for the mutual benefit of the peoples of both nations.
