Sanaa:The Deputy Interior Minister, Mr. Polpeerap Suwannachawi, clarified that the transfer of Mr. Setthawut Wongleowut, District Chief of Ban Sang District in Prachinburi Province, was not an order from the Prime Minister. The move was linked to issues and complaints about handling flood victim assistance in the region.
According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Polpeerap explained that the decision was based on reports from Mr. Chanathip Khokmani, the acting Governor of Prachinburi, alongside the former governor and local leaders. These reports were consistent and indicated a need for administrative changes. The Deputy Minister emphasized that the Prime Minister was informed only after the transfer order was already in place.
In response to social media criticism, Mr. Polpeerap noted the stark differences between online portrayals and on-the-ground realities. He assured the public that the matter is not punitive and if Mr. Setthawut is found innocent in the ongoing investigation, he will be reinstated.
The Deputy Minister also addressed concerns about a potential conflict between the district chief and the former governor related to allowing Chinese investments. While acknowledging these reports, he stated that further investigation would be required to verify any such claims. He underscored that the transfer was based solely on administrative evaluations and not political motivations.
