Udon Thani: A tragic accident unfolded in Udon Thani Municipality late last night when a 12-year-old boy driving a motorcycle ran a red light and was struck by a sedan, resulting in his death and serious injuries to two others. According to Thai News Agency, CCTV footage revealed the motorcycle cutting off a speeding sedan at Nong Sai Intersection, leading to a devastating collision at the heart of the intersection. The incident scene was a somber sight, with the mangled remains of the motorcycle and sedan. The young boy's body was discovered thrown against a traffic light pole, which had been knocked down by the impact. The two other injured boys, also 12, were found at the scene, one thrown behind a car stopped at the light, and the other entrapped in the sedan. The boy's mother arrived at the scene, overwhelmed with grief upon discovering her son's body. She recounted that her son, a dedicated football player, would routinely attend practice at Wessuwan Stadium and stop for noodles before heading home. She described him as a hardworking student with a cheerful disposition. The driver of the sedan expressed deep regret, explaining that he was en route to a party and accelerated when his traffic light turned green, only to be unexpectedly cut off by the motorcycle. He sincerely apologized to the boy's family, emphasizing that he had no intention of causing harm. Authorities have reviewed the CCTV footage and confirmed the sedan driver's alcohol level to be zero. They plan to conduct further interviews with witnesses to ensure a thorough legal process.
