Traffic Lanes on Ratchaprarop Road to be Diverted for MRT Orange Line Construction

Bangkok: Remember, on February 13th, traffic lanes will be diverted on Ratchaprarop Road, heading towards Makkasan Intersection. The Mass Rapid Transit Authority of Thailand (MRTA) reiterated that on February 13, traffic lanes on Ratchaprarop Road, heading towards Makkasan Intersection (Mor Laeng Intersection), will be diverted to two lanes for the construction of the Orange Line elevated train project. The public is advised to use alternative routes.

According to Thai News Agency, the Mass Transit Authority of Thailand (MRTA) announced that Ch. Karnchang Public Company Limited, a contractor for Bangkok Expressway and Rail Public Company Limited (BEM), a joint venture partner in the Orange Line (Bang Khun Non - Thailand Cultural Centre) project, is currently constructing the Ratchaprarop MRT station (OR10) on Ratchaprarop Road. A plan is in place to close an additional three lanes adjacent to the sidewalk on Ratchaprarop Road, heading towards Makkasan Intersection (Mor Laeng Intersection), between Soi Ratchaprarop 9 and Soi Ratchaprarop 11, for the construction of a diaphragm wall. This closure will be in effect from February 13, 2026, at 10:00 PM to March 31, 2026, at midnight, 24 hours a day. As a result of the closure, Ratchaprarop Road in the affected area will have two lanes open for traffic heading towards Makkasan Intersection and two lanes open for traffic heading towards Pratunam Intersection. All vehicles coming from Sri Ayutthaya Road will be pr ohibited from turning right towards Pratunam. Go straight ahead, cross the bridge, and then make a U-turn at Makkasan Lake.

The Mass Rapid Transit Authority of Thailand (MRTA) would like to inform the public using these routes to please allow extra travel time and, if unnecessary, avoid the construction area. We recommend alternative routes. Those coming from CentralWorld should turn right at Pratunam intersection onto Mitsamphan intersection, then turn left onto Kamphaeng Phet 7 Road, and then turn right towards Rama 9 intersection or Din Daeng. Those using Chaturathit Road (inbound) passing Makkasan intersection should use the exit towards Phaya Thai intersection.

The MRTA (Metropolitan Rapid Transit Authority) has instructed the project consultants and contractors to coordinate with local traffic police stations to manage traffic during construction, especially during peak hours. If there are any changes to traffic management during construction, the contractors must promptly inform the public in advance. They must also deploy traffic volunteers and emphasize the importance of maintaining the construction area and barriers in good and safe condition, in accordance with the highest safety measures at the construction site, to facilitate traffic flow and mitigate the impact on the public. The MRTA apologizes for any inconvenience caused. For details on traffic diversions, please contact 06 3217 6532.
