Pattani: Three individuals were apprehended under arrest warrants related to the unrest in southern Thailand, and were found hiding in a religious school. Joint police and police in Pattani have apprehended three more individuals from the Kajee Islamic boarding school, bringing the total to four. They have been brought before the authorities for legal proceedings.
According to Thai News Agency, the Public Relations Center of the Internal Security Operations Command Region 4 Forward Headquarters reported that a joint special operations unit in Pattani Province tracked down an individual wanted on an arrest warrant in the Darul Taqwa Islamic boarding school (Pondok Kaji), located on the border between Puloh Puyo Subdistrict and Khok Deepli Village, Tuyong Subdistrict, Nong Chik District, Pattani Province. This followed a tip from a concerned citizen that the wanted individual was hiding and using the boarding school as a refuge.
Officials coordinated with the Islamic boarding school supervisor and community leaders to explain the procedures and steps to be taken, taking into account the safety of the students and those within the boarding school. They were able to apprehend one individual who surrendered themselves to authorities based on an arrest warrant.
Mr. Muhammad Hafiq (last name withheld) and three more individuals were apprehended: Mr. Isma'er, Mr. Ma'useng, and Mr. Zulqifli. Authorities confiscated one firearm and some ammunition. Upon investigation, the seized firearm was found to have been stolen from Mr. Serm Sidaeng, who was shot in an assassination attempt on May 27, 2026, in the Maikhaen district of Pattani province.
Following the arrest, the officers took the detainees to Tuyong Police Station to record the incident before proceeding with detention under martial law, in accordance with Sections 22 and 24 of the Prevention and Suppression of Torture and Enforced Disappearance Act B.E. 2565 (2022). The detainees were also taken for a medical examination at Inkhayutthabhan Military Camp Hospital before being transferred to the interrogation center of the 43rd Ranger Regiment Task Force for further legal proceedings and investigation.
