Bang bo: A thief made off with 123 baht worth of gold, valued at over 6 million baht, from a shopping mall in the Bang Bo area. The Samut Prakan Provincial Police Commander has convened a meeting with police officers to investigate the incident. Employees of the gold shop remain fearful whenever individuals wearing rider's uniforms enter the premises.
According to Thai News Agency, the incident involved a suspect dressed in a rider's outfit, black jeans, and white sneakers. The suspect entered the gold shop alone, brandishing a bronze-colored automatic pistol. He threatened three female gold salespeople, demanding they hand over gold jewelry. When the salespeople refused and lay face down on the ground, the suspect jumped over the gold display case, moved the protective glass, and seized several gold bracelets. The stolen items included five bracelets weighing 5 baht each, 25 baht each, 30 bracelets weighing 3 baht each (total weight 90 baht), and 24 bracelets weighing 2 baht each (total weight 48 baht). He placed these in a shoulder bag and fled the scene on a motorcycle without a license plate.
Pol. Maj. Gen. Wichit Bunchinwutthikun, Commander of Samut Prakan Provincial Police, has called upon the technical and investigative teams, including regional, provincial, and local investigators, to collaborate in tracking down the suspect. They are thoroughly examining the suspect's escape route, and considerable progress has been reported in the investigation, though further details remain undisclosed.
The investigation team from Bang Bo Police Station has reviewed CCTV footage along the escape route on Theparat Road (Bangna-Trad) towards Chonburi Province. The suspect made a U-turn at kilometer marker 27 before proceeding back via outbound Bangna-Trad Road towards Chonburi Province. Investigators plan to summon witnesses and gold shop employees for detailed questioning to gather more clues.
The gold shop has resumed normal operations, but employees continue to feel apprehensive when riders enter. They are awaiting feedback from the shop's management regarding proposed preventative measures.
