Referendum Committee not rushing work, waiting to conclude points of disagreement early December. Mr. Nikorn Chamnong, Secretary of the Joint Committee to Consider the Draft Act on the Referendum of Parliament, gave an interview about the results of the first meeting of the committee to select various positions. He said that the meeting voted to select Pol. Lt. Gen. Chatwarat Saengphet, Senator, as the chairman of the committee, and Mr. Prayut Siripanich, MP for the Pheu Thai Party, as the first vice chairman of the committee. In addition, Mr. Wuttichai Kalyanamitra, Senator, and Mr. Krit Eua-wong were appointed as the committee spokespersons, and he was the secretary. The framework for consideration was set: it would be completed before the opening of the regular parliament session in December. Since it was not necessary to rush to draft the draft law in time for the local elections nationwide in February 2025, it was necessary to consider all aspects and scheduled 5 meetings. Mr. Nikorn continued that in the next meeting on 5 November, the overall opinions of all the committee members will be heard. Then in the following week, the agencies related to the referendum, such as the Election Commission (EC), the manager of Thailand Post, and the Embassy of Switzerland, will be invited to the meeting. Then, in the last meeting in early December, opinions on the amended sections will be summarized. Source: Thai News Agency
