Bangkok: Thammanat Prompao, in a green suit and tie, marked his return to work by paying homage to sacred objects at Government House. He emphasized his commitment to continue his previous efforts and addressed the Prime Minister's directive for decisive action on the SEA Games and sports-related issues.
According to Thai News Agency, Captain Thammanat Prompao, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Agriculture and Cooperatives, arrived at Government House at 9:29 a.m., considered an auspicious time, to honor the sacred objects. This included lighting 16 incense sticks and paying respects to the Thai Khu Fa building, the Sarthao Maha Phrom, and several other sacred sites. He was accompanied by notable figures such as Mr. Atthakorn Sirilathayakorn, Minister of Tourism and Sports, Group Captain Anudit Nakornthap, and other key members of the Kla Party.
Colonel Thammanat expressed satisfaction at resuming his duties, highlighting the importance of the tradition of paying respects to sacred objects for those working at Government House. He reiterated his commitment to continue the work he started in 2019. Addressing his role as Deputy Prime Minister, he outlined preparations for the upcoming SEA Games, set to begin in about 70 days, and the need to resolve issues with the Sports Authority of Thailand and the Sports Fund. He identified budget allocation as a critical concern, noting the lack of clarity in fund usage and the need for decisive actions.
In tackling obstacles, Colonel Thammanat asserted that he intends to remove those hindering progress. The Prime Minister's instructions call for decisive solutions, particularly to avoid potential sanctions from the world sports authority, analogous to current issues with the Petanque Association.
The green suit worn by Captain Thammanat was noted by reporters, to which he explained that it represents the Kla Dharma Party's signature color. He also brought a revered sacred Buddha image with him.
Colonel Thammanat mentioned that little has changed at Government House since his return, as he frequently visits the location and is quite accustomed to it.
