Thammanat Challenges Abhisit to Show Results Amid Political Tensions

Bangkok: Captain Thamanat Phromphao, chairman of the advisory board of the Kla Tham Party, has issued a challenge to Mr. Abhisit Vejjajiva, leader of the Democrat Party, following Abhisit's announcement of non-cooperation with the Kla Tham Party.

According to Thai News Agency, Captain Thamanat criticized the political decorum of declaring non-cooperation and emphasized the tangible contributions of his party, such as addressing agricultural issues and land reform.

Thamanat highlighted past achievements, questioning the impact of other leaders who, despite eloquent speeches during elections, have not yielded significant results. He recounted instances where he had to resolve issues left by previous administrations, including economic challenges and territorial disputes.

He stressed the importance of letting the electorate decide on political affiliations, rather than forming premature coalitions, unless a party secures substantial representation. Thamanat urged politicians to focus on policy proposals and past successes rather than engaging in conflicts, and he urged former MPs who joined Kla Tham to work earnestly for the people.

Thamanat warned against the trend of announcing non-cooperation with political parties, suggesting it often leads to leadership resignations. He advised young politicians to be cautious and avoid arrogance, sharing that he has taken legal action against some for their outspoken behavior.

Reflecting on his party's growth, Thamanat emphasized action over rhetoric, advocating for improvement in the present rather than lamenting the past. He responded to the People's Party's stance of non-cooperation, asserting he has never nominated anyone for Prime Minister and emphasized that clarity and straightforwardness are his guiding principles.

Thamanat concluded by stating that those who have opposed him politically have faced unfavorable outcomes, attributing it to the natural order of karma. He maintains a routine of daily prayers, extending goodwill to all individuals.
