Bangkok: Ratchada emphasized that the Prime Minister is pursuing proactive diplomacy to bring Thailand back onto the global radar, attract investment, and open new markets, while also explaining the achievements to Parliament. According to Thai News Agency, the government is prepared to clarify to the House and the public with factual information and verifiable results, especially regarding the impact of the government's foreign policy. Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul, also Minister of Interior, has employed a proactive diplomatic approach to bring Thailand back into the global spotlight and has "elevated good relations into opportunities for the country" in trade, investment, technology, security, and employment.
Previously, Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Anutin Charnvirakul traveled abroad and participated in regional conferences, holding discussions with leaders of nine countries: the Philippines, France, Russia, Vietnam, Malaysia, China, Indonesia, Australia, and New Zealand. At the same time, he welcomed visiting foreign leaders, including Mr. To Lam, General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam and President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, Mr. Min Aung Hlaing, President of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar, and next week, Mr. Lawrence Wong, Prime Minister of the Republic of Singapore, will visit Thailand on September 2, 2026. Regarding investment promotion, the Prime Minister's visits to various countries have included discussions with foreign investors, and business matching events have been arranged between Thai and foreign investors. The Prime Minister has instructed the Board of Investment (BOI) to continuously monitor progress in order to promote actual investment.
Furthermore, the Prime Minister sought support for Thailand's membership in the OECD by 2028, while reiterating Thailand's commitment to peaceful methods, dialogue, and international law, as well as its focus on security partnerships and combating transnational crime.
During his recent visit to Australia, the Prime Minister continued the strategic partnership in future industries, innovation, and education, while also enhancing cooperation in combating transnational crime, call center scams, and cyber threats.
In addition, the Prime Minister also held discussions with Canva, a global design platform, to promote the creative economy and connect Thai creators and SMEs to the international market.
As Thailand and New Zealand elevate their relationship to a 'strategic partnership,' aiming to triple trade value to US$7.5 billion by 2045, they are preparing to launch direct flights between Bangkok and Auckland in 2027 and inviting leading private sector investors, such as Skyline Enterprises in the tourism and leisure sector, and TandG Global in agriculture and food, to promote Thailand as a regional distribution hub.
Furthermore, the government's proactive diplomacy is reflected in its open house receptions for foreign leaders, providing opportunities to further develop leadership-level relations and define the direction of joint cooperation. Previously, the Prime Minister welcomed Mr. To Lam, Secretary General of the Communist Party of Vietnam and President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, on May 28, 2026, and Mr. Min Aung Hlaing, President of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar, on August 6, 2026. The government is also preparing to welcome Mr. Lawrence Wong, Prime Minister of the Republic of Singapore, during his official visit to Thailand on September 2, 2026.
