Thailand: Thailand will step up security measures in its southern border region following recent security incidents, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sihasak Phuangketkeow said on Tuesday. Speaking after a mobile Cabinet meeting in Songkhla, Sihasak stated the prime minister emphasized ensuring the safety of lives and property to build confidence among the public and the private sector.
According to Thai News Agency, to achieve this, security agencies must integrate their work, particularly intelligence, through a "Team Thailand" approach with speed and accuracy. The key focus areas outlined following security workshops include enhancing cross-agency intelligence integration for timely information sharing, reaching out to local populations to build understanding, and partnering with Malaysia on border security, tracking suspects, and continuing the southern peace dialogue.
