Thailand to Face Australia for Third Place in 2024 ASEAN Futsal Championship.

Nakhon Ratchasima: As the Thailand national futsal team gears up to compete against Australia for the third place in the 2024 ASEAN Futsal Championship, the team is leaving no stone unturned in their preparations. The match is scheduled to take place at the Terminal 21 Korat shopping center this afternoon. According to Thai News Agency, the Thai team, known as "Changsuk Futsal," faced a setback when they lost to Indonesia for the first time in 16 years, with a score of 1-5 in the semi-finals. Australia also faced a tough opponent, losing to Vietnam in extra time with a score of 4-5. Last evening, in an effort to prepare their bodies and minds for the match, Spanish head coach Miguel Rodrigo took the players for a recovery session at the swimming pool of the Sima Thani Hotel. Rodrigo emphasized the importance of moving past the disappointment and focusing on achieving third place. The Thai team, currently ranked 11th in the world, faces challenges with three injured players: Kritsana Aransanalak, Pichayut Ki ttiphanuwong, and Thedsak Charoenpong. However, team captain Narongsak Wingwon, along with Teerapat Muensri and Piyawat Petchnoi, are ready to take the field. Narongsak Wingwon expressed the team's disappointment at not reaching the finals but urged his teammates to concentrate on securing third place. He also extended an apology to Thai football fans, asking for their continued support. The Thai futsal team's journey in the 2024 ASEAN Futsal Championship began with a commanding 13-0 victory over Brunei, followed by wins against Timor Leste (7-1) and Malaysia (3-1). Despite a 2-3 loss to Vietnam, they advanced to the semi-finals as the second team in their group, marking the first time in 23 years that they would compete for third place after losing 1-5 to Indonesia. Australia, ranked 49th in the world and coached by Mike Downie, features key players such as captain Kio Fernari, goalkeeper Dominic Badolato, and Jordan Guerreiro. They started the tournament with a 3-3 draw against Myanmar, lost 1-3 to Indone sia, and secured a 9-2 victory over Cambodia. Advancing to the semi-finals as the second team in their group, they narrowly lost to Vietnam in extra time. In their most recent matchup, Thailand defeated Australia 9-2 at the NSD Futsal Championship Thailand 2024. The third place match between Australia and Thailand will commence at 3:00 PM, followed by the final match between Indonesia and Vietnam at 6:00 PM.
