Bangkok: "Is it safe to travel in Thailand?" International travel websites confirm that Thailand remains safe. An international travel website reports that security measures have been tightened in some areas, but this is not affecting travel to popular tourist destinations in Thailand.
According to Thai News Agency, Travel And Tour World (TTW), a multilingual travel media platform with over 15 million readers worldwide, published an article today stating that Thailand remains a top global tourist destination, known for its beautiful beaches, vibrant cities, and rich cultural heritage. While security measures have been heightened in some border areas this December due to tensions with neighboring Cambodia, these measures have not impacted travel to Thailand's popular tourist spots.
TTW stated that the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) has confirmed that most of Thailand's tourism remains unaffected, and the situation across most of the country continues as normal. International tourists can travel to various destinations in Thailand without worrying about safety. The areas where the Thai government has announced additional security measures and travel restrictions include seven provinces near the Cambodian border: Trat, Chanthaburi, Sa Kaeo, Ubon Ratchathani, Surin, Buriram, and Si Saket. TTW emphasized that major tourist destinations in Thailand, such as Pattaya, Krabi, and Koh Samui, remain normal and are not affected by these measures.
TTW explained that the Thai government has tightened security measures to protect local residents and tourists. The affected areas are mostly border crossings and some districts in provinces bordering Cambodia. Tourists are advised to avoid these areas until the situation improves. The announcement also provided details on travel adjustments by land, rail, and air, including curfew schedules and border crossing closures that tourists should be aware of.
