Bangkok: Foreign Minister Sihasak Phuangketkaew has firmly denied rumors that he is a potential candidate for the prime minister position under the Bhumjaithai Party. This clarification comes after the circulation of promotional photos featuring him alongside Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul. Sihasak made it clear that he has never been approached for such a role and maintains no political ambitions, emphasizing his commitment to focusing on foreign affairs. He pointed out that the Bhumjaithai Party already has two prime ministerial candidates.
According to Thai News Agency, when Sihasak was questioned about the list of candidates, he refrained from providing a direct response. Instead, he suggested that inquiries should be directed towards Mr. Ekniti Nitithanpraphas and Ms. Supajee Suthamphan. When pressed about the possibility of accepting a candidacy if approached by Mr. Anutin in the future, Sihasak reiterated that he is not currently considering a political career and intends to watch how the situation develops.
Despite ongoing inquiries, Mr. Anutin has not disclosed the identity of the party's prime ministerial candidate, even when confronted with promotional images by the media. Mr. Ekniti has also declined interviews, while Ms. Sabida Thaiseth has explicitly stated that she is not among the Bhumjaithai Party's candidates for prime minister.
