Fujairah: "Little Hero" Parami Chomphuwong, a young Thai kickboxer, emerged victorious at the World Youth Taekwondo Championship in the UAE, securing both a gold and a bronze medal for the Thai team.
According to Thai News Agency, the Fujairah World Taekwondo Cadet Championships 2025, held in Fujairah, United Arab Emirates, featured 47 athletes in the men's 33 kg category. Parami Chomphuwong showcased exceptional skill, advancing to the final round where he faced Amirali Kadyrov, representing a neutral country. Chomphuwong's superior technique and timing allowed him to triumph with a score of 12-6, followed by an impressive outscore of 16-3, earning him the coveted gold medal and marking a significant achievement for the Thai youth team.
In the women's 33 kg category, which saw participation from 37 athletes, "Nong Ton Hom" Thipanan Aimsaard fought valiantly to reach the bronze medal round. She successfully defeated Turkey's Bielke Nisa Toprack 2-0 with an outscore of 14-2 and 6-0. Despite her strong performance, Aimsaard was unable to overcome Dinara Cheripova, another neutral athlete, in the semi-finals, resulting in a 0-2 defeat with scores of 10-11 and 4-6. Nevertheless, her efforts secured a bronze medal for the Thai team.
The Thai youth kickboxers have already achieved notable success with one gold and one bronze medal. As the competition continues, two more Thai athletes, Suwaphat Ruangphisan in the men's 45 kg category and Wilawanee Duangthongyu in the women's 47 kg category, are set to compete and potentially add to Thailand's medal tally.
