Bangkok: The Thai women's volleyball team defeated Kyrgyzstan 3-0 sets in the first round of the Asian Games. The triumph marked their second victory, ensuring their progression to the quarterfinals of the 2026 Asian Games.
According to Thai News Agency, the volleyball competition is being held at the Okazaki Chuo Sogo Park Gymnasium in Okazaki City, Aichi Prefecture, Japan. The Thai team, reigning 2026 Asian champions, faced Kyrgyzstan, ranked 118th globally, in their second match of the tournament.
Head coach Kiattipong Ratchatagriengkrai selected a strong starting lineup featuring team captain Pornpun Guedparach, Kanyarat Khunmuang, Thaddao Nuekjaeng, Sasipaporn Chantavisut, Pimphichaya Kokram, and Chatchuon Moksri. Kalyarat Khamwong and Piyanut Paennoy served as liberos.
The Thai team maintained a steady performance throughout the match, defeating Kyrgyzstan 3-0 with set scores of 25-13, 25-7, and 25-7. This victory secured them 6 points, guaranteeing their place in the quarterfinals.
The Thai women's team is set to face Chinese Taipei in their next Group C match on September 18th at 5:00 PM. The match will be broadcast live on PPTV HD 36.
