Bangkok:Over 350 Thai repairmen are set to collaborate on restoring communities affected by the recent floods, beginning on October 3rd.
According to Thai News Agency, the National Housing Authority, alongside government and private sectors, organized an initiative titled "United Thai Craftsmen Rebuilding Homes and Cities After Bangkok's Floods." This effort, led by Governor Taweepong Wichaidit and Thai Craftsmen Volunteer Foundation President Thepparat Theppitak, aims to rehabilitate the Khlong Chan and Rom Klao housing communities.
Minister of Social Development and Human Security, Nikorn Somklang, highlighted that the flooding on September 26th severely impacted homes, property, and public utilities, especially in the Khlong Chan and Rom Klao areas. In response, he directed the National Housing Authority to provide swift assistance and coordinate with technical experts for effective restoration.
The restoration plan focuses on public safety, with technicians set to inspect and repair electrical and plumbing systems, building structures, and household appliances. The Department of Skill Development will offer on-site services to fix motorcycles, fans, and other appliances, aiming to alleviate the financial burden on residents.
Volunteer engineers and technicians will work on the Khlong Chan Housing Estate from October 3-5, 2026, and the Rom Klao Housing Community from October 6-8, 2026. Their efforts will include the inspection, repair, and restoration of affected public utilities.
Governor Taweepong stated that the National Housing Authority will ensure collaboration among government agencies, private sectors, and volunteers to expedite the restoration process. The goal is to enable residents to safely return to their homes and resume normal life, while continuously addressing issues in the affected areas to provide comprehensive support.
