Bangkok: The government is delighted with the outcome of the 2026 Thai Massage Festival, which generated over 75 million baht in revenue, and is moving forward with plans to host the Global Wellness Summit (GWS) 2026 in Phuket. According to Thai News Agency, the government announced that the festival reinforced the potential of Thai traditional knowledge to enter the international market.
Ms. Ploytalay Laksmisangchan, Deputy Spokesperson for the Prime Minister's Office, shared that the National Thai Massage and Wellness Fair, held from August 20-22, 2026, under the theme "Celebrating Thai Wisdom, Fostering a New Economy, and Advancing Towards the International Stage," was successful. The three-day event saw participation from a diverse group of attendees, including members of the public, entrepreneurs, investors, and health experts from both Thailand and abroad.
Ms. Ploytalee highlighted that the event significantly boosted the wellness economy, featuring over 100 exhibitors and attracting considerable interest from attendees. The business negotiations during the event generated 75.4 million baht in revenue, showcasing the growth of the Thai health and wellness business and the potential of Thai traditional knowledge to penetrate the international market.
The success of this event is seen as a significant step reflecting Thailand's potential to become a world-class wellness hub. Thailand is set to host the Global Wellness Summit (GWS) 2026 from November 10-13, 2026, in Phuket, indicating the country's role as a leading global wellness destination.
