Bangkok:Thailand's Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Sihasak Phuangketkeow, has voiced concerns regarding the safety of Thai nationals attending the Hajj pilgrimage in Saudi Arabia. His concerns arise amidst fears of escalating conflict in the Middle East.
According to Thai News Agency, Sihasak stated that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is actively monitoring the situation following attacks by Houthi forces into Saudi Arabia. Thai military officials and embassies are reportedly preparing contingency plans to assist Thai citizens in the event of a deterioration in the situation.
In response to recent advice from the UK government for its citizens to stockpile at least three days of food, Sihasak advised Thai residents in Britain to stay informed through local authority updates. He emphasized that the Thai embassy in London will issue alerts if conditions worsen.
Sihasak also advised Thais planning to travel to Europe to carefully monitor local conditions and avoid any non-essential travel to areas affected by the current instability until the situation stabilizes.
