Bangkok: The temple administrator of Wat Phutthaisawan, Mr. Chettha Waiyawachakorn, was brought in for questioning regarding his alleged links to the former abbot of the temple. Police transported a round wooden table and cardboard boxes from Wat Phutthaisawan to the Crime Suppression Division for examination as evidence in the ongoing investigation. Chetha, the temple's treasurer, was also taken into custody for intense questioning.
According to Thai News Agency, at 3:15 PM, police escorted Mr. Chettha to the Crime Suppression Division headquarters. The police van drove to the back of the building before officers led Mr. Chettha into the elevator for immediate questioning. Reporters attempted to question Mr. Chettha about his detention and alleged involvement with the former abbot, but he remained silent and expressionless before entering the building.
Officials seized items including an orange round wooden table and a green cardboard box labeled "Office building and adjacent building (former abbot's residence)." The contents of the box remain undisclosed, but it is expected to contain items or evidence crucial to the case.
Further investigations revealed that Ms. Punyavee, a close associate of the former abbot, has a prior arrest warrant from the Pathum Thani Provincial Court for producing counterfeit chemical fertilizers for commercial purposes. Police Lieutenant Worapak Suphasawat, leading the investigation against Ms. Punyavee, stated that the fertilizers did not meet the nutrient content standards set by the Department of Agriculture, prompting the arrest warrant. Ms. Punyavee was arrested today in connection with a sexual relationship with the former abbot, and police will proceed with legal actions and seek a further detention order.
