Bangkok: A dramatic incident unfolded at the Parliament building when a familiar figure, known for his previous breaches of security, made an unexpected appearance. The individual, an elderly disabled man identified as Mr. Pongpichan, stormed into the Parliament's swimming pool area, asserting that he had received a letter from House Speaker Sophon Saram. Mr. Pongpichan, who wore a taxi driver's vest and helmet, claimed he was a lifelong member of the Bhumjaithai Party.
According to Thai News Agency, this is not Mr. Pongpichan's first disruptive act. He had previously driven his motorcycle onto the hill in the middle of the Parliament building, despite clear signs prohibiting entry. Additionally, he had a history of riding through a police checkpoint into the Government House and causing disturbances at various political party offices. His actions have led to his identification and prohibition from entering key governmental areas.
Reporters noted that photographs and information about Mr. Pongpichan were prominently displayed at the main checkpoints for both the House of Representatives and the Senate. These signs served as a warning, indicating that he was a wanted person and explicitly barred from accessing the premises. Despite these measures, Mr. Pongpichan managed to reach the Emerald Pool in the center of the Parliament building before being apprehended by parliamentary police.
