Washington: SZA is furious as she criticized the White House after they used her song in an ICE advertisement. The White House recently utilized SZA's viral song "Big Boy" to promote an event for Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), tweeting a video of officers arresting immigrants with the caption, "Bad news for illegal immigrants, but good news for America."
According to Thai News Agency, SZA is not the first artist to criticize the White House for this practice. She expressed her disapproval by stating, "The White House is using artists' anger for free promotion. That's so dark. inhumane and shocking. wicked and utterly tiresome."
The situation mirrors an incident last week involving Sabrina Carpenter. The White House used her song "Juno" in a video showing ICE officers arresting a suspect in Chicago. Carpenter condemned the video as "evil and disgusting" and demanded that her music not be associated with these policies. Despite her strong response, the White House issued a statement focusing on the extradition of dangerous criminals, but they have yet to comment on SZA's case.
