Bangkok: "Supamas" joins hands with network partners to sign 2 MOUs to proactively upgrade the Consumer Protection Board (CPB), focusing on controlling influencer reviews and promoting Trusted SMEs to build consumer confidence.
According to Thai News Agency, Ms. Supamas Isarabhakdi, Minister attached to the Prime Minister's Office, is taking significant strides in enhancing the work of the Office of the Consumer Protection Board (OCPB). In her role as supervisor, she presided over and witnessed the signing of two pivotal Memorandums of Understanding (MOUs) at the Centara Hotel. These initiatives involve collaboration between OCPB executives and private sector representatives aimed at bolstering consumer protection measures.
The first MOU represents a partnership between the OCPB and five advertising network organizations. This collaboration focuses on improving the effectiveness of consumer protection by emphasizing responsible advertising practices by influencers and the promotion of honest Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs). The agreement includes new regulations for influencers and content creators, particularly those engaged in product reviews, live streaming, and the use of pinned links or AI technology. It mandates content producers to clearly disclose their commercial objectives, provide factual information, and avoid exaggerated claims, ensuring consumers are well-informed before making purchasing decisions.
The second MOU, signed with the Thai Federation of Small and Medium Enterprises, aims to create fair market conditions for consumers and honest SMEs. This agreement emphasizes promoting a certification system for trustworthy businesses, termed "Trusted SMEs," to instill consumer confidence in purchasing goods and services. Additionally, it seeks to establish an efficient dispute resolution system, offer legal training to small business owners to mitigate the risk of unintentional violations, and encourage sustainable growth for Thai businesses.
