Bangkok: 'Supamas' has ordered the Consumer Protection Board to take swift action to address the fallout from the collapse of the Asanee-Wasan concert stage, ensuring affected concert-goers receive full refunds or the option to reschedule.
According to Thai News Agency, Ms. Supamas Isarabhakdi, Minister attached to the Prime Minister's Office and supervisor of the Office of the Consumer Protection Board (OCPB), took immediate steps following the incident on September 2, 2026. The collapse of a temporary elevated seating area in the VIP zone at the 'FAREWELL CONCERT Asanee and Vasana' held at Impact Arena, Muang Thong Thani, led to the concert's cancellation and its rescheduling to September 9, 2026.
Ms. Supamas directed the OCPB to coordinate with Neekrung Connect Co., Ltd., the concert organizer, and Thai Ticket Major Co., Ltd., the ticket distributor, to address the concerns of the affected consumers. By the afternoon, a meeting was convened between the parties to discuss solutions and outline appropriate measures for ticket holders.
Measures include options for a full refund for those unable to attend the rescheduled concert on September 9. Ticket holders can also opt to reschedule for shows on September 3, 5, 6, or 8, 2026. The organizers have also made provisions for 30 international attendees and processed specific standing ticket requests for the September 3 show.
'Consumers shouldn't have to chase after answers themselves,' Ms. Supamas emphasized, highlighting the need for proactive measures to ensure fair treatment for all ticket holders. She instructed the Consumer Protection Board to ensure this process is streamlined and equitable.
Refund requests can be made through Thai Ticket Major at any branch, via email, or by calling their call center. Refunds will be processed within two billing cycles for credit card payments and within 15 business days for cash or bank transfers. Consumer Protection Board officials have also been on-site to ensure compliance and review compensation measures.
In addition to ticket refunds, consumers may claim compensation for other expenses incurred due to the postponement, such as accommodation and travel costs. Such claims must be supported by evidence and submitted to the Consumer Protection Board for consideration.
Consumers facing difficulties in obtaining refunds or rescheduling can seek assistance from the OCPB. Complaints about insufficient or unfair compensation can be lodged through various channels, including the OCPB hotline and website.
