Bangkok: Deputy Prime Minister Supajee Suthamphan has emphasized the importance of promoting 365-day tourism in Thailand while simultaneously addressing the PM2.5 air pollution issue.
According to Thai News Agency, Ms. Supajee, who also serves as the Minister of Commerce, presented the "365 Days of Amazing Thailand: Travel Any Day" initiative to Parliament. She clarified that the initiative is designed to leverage Thailand's tourism potential by highlighting year-round attractions across various regions. However, this does not imply that every province within the country is suitable for tourism activities every day, regardless of weather conditions.
Ms. Supajee pointed out that Thailand offers a wide array of events and tourist spots throughout the year. This varied calendar plays a pivotal role in distributing income to local communities and is crucial for sustaining the tourism economy.
Moreover, Ms. Supajee addressed the urgent need to tackle the PM2.5 air pollution issue, emphasizing that it has a direct impact on public health. She mentioned that relevant agencies are actively working on measures to tackle the root causes of air pollution. Initiatives include controlling burning activities and enhancing air quality monitoring systems, with the goal of achieving both short-term and long-term improvements.
Ms. Supajee stated that enhancing tourism policies and tackling air pollution should be pursued simultaneously. She reiterated that Thailand's economic growth should not overshadow the need to improve the quality of life for its citizens.
