Hat yai: Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Natural Resources and Environment Suchart Chomklin has initiated urgent measures to assist flood victims in Hat Yai District, Songkhla Province, by designating the Songkhla Zoo as a temporary shelter. The zoo can accommodate 200 victims and provide parking for vehicles affected by the flooding.
According to Thai News Agency, this initiative is part of the "One Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment" policy, which mobilizes resources from nine agencies within the ministry to deliver urgent help since the onset of the flooding situation. The Songkhla Zoo has been transformed into a forward command center, currently sheltering 120 flood victims and facilitating 16 public vehicles. The zoo is equipped to continue assisting residents, in collaboration with local agencies, by supplying food, water, clothing, essential goods, and basic healthcare.
Suchart Chomklin reassured that all victims will receive proper care until conditions stabilize, allowing them to return safely to their homes.
