Songkhla Showcases Local Delicacies for Cabinet Meeting: Ministry of Interior Hosts Media Tour to Boost Local Economy

Bangkok: The Ministry of Interior has taken media representatives on a tour of Songkhla Province to experience local delicacies "Khai Khrob" and "Mango Bao," which are set to be served at an upcoming Cabinet meeting outside Bangkok. The initiative aims to stimulate the local economy and expand market opportunities by highlighting OTOP (One Tambon One Product) goods and community specialties.

According to Thai News Agency, the Public Relations Division of the Office of the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Interior organized the media tour, which included representatives from television, newspapers, and online media. This event precedes the official Cabinet meeting scheduled to take place in Songkhla, as part of a broader inspection tour of the southern provinces from August 30 to September 1, 2026. The goal is to showcase community products to Cabinet members and encourage them to engage with local markets.

The media delegation visited the Rajawat Saengsongla weaving group in Koh Yo Subdistrict, Mueang Songkhla District, to observe the production of "Rajawat patterned" woven fabric. Following this, they explored the Songkhla Lake Agricultural Housewives' Community Enterprise Group to learn about the production of preserved eggs and visited the Mae Tiew Mango Processing Community Enterprise Group in Singhanakhon District.

Ms. Rattana Maisan, the Provincial Development Officer of Songkhla, emphasized the importance of promoting the grassroots economy by preparing to display renowned products and OTOP goods at the mobile Cabinet meeting. This initiative is intended to create market expansion opportunities and increase the value of local products. A variety of products from all 16 districts and network groups will be showcased, including mochi, roti with milk tea, egg custard, seaweed salad, Singhanakhon pickled unripe mangoes, unripe mango slushies, crispy fried white snapper skin, jackfruit ice cream, Songkhla tofu pudding, Khlong Nga tofu, and black pepper fish balls.
