Kab choeng: The soldier who fired a weapon in the middle of the night has been found hiding in a house near the scene. Relatives have been contacted to help negotiate his surrender.
According to Thai News Agency, military, administrative, and police officers cordoned off an area in Kab Choeng District, Surin Province, to track down the soldier who fired a gun, injuring two villagers. The Superintendent of Kab Choeng Police Station arrived at the scene with police and soldiers and later visited the hospital to check on the injured individuals.
Initial reports from those injured indicated that a group of 5-6 people had been drinking alcohol and subsequently dispersed, leaving only two individuals behind. It was then that the soldier emerged and began shooting from about 50 meters away, prompting two teenagers to quickly crouch down to avoid injuries.
Surin Governor Chamnan Chuenta shared on his personal Facebook page that the soldier involved in the incident has been located. Efforts are underway to coordinate with the soldier's family to bring them to the area to assist in negotiations for his surrender.
