Royal Thai Police Submit Bribery Case Files Against ‘Big Jok’ to Prosecutor

Bangkok: The Anti-Corruption Division of the Royal Thai Police has sent 23 boxes of case files to the prosecutor's office to indict "Big Jok" in the 246 baht gold bribery case. Investigators have delivered 45 case files, totaling 23 boxes, to the Attorney General regarding allegations that "Big Jok" and his associates jointly offered a bribe of 246 baht worth of gold to a public official in order to gain an advantage in a case.

According to Thai News Agency, at the Anti-Corruption and Misconduct Suppression Division (ACMSD), investigators from the ACMSD, led by Pol. Col. Panumas Saengsong, Superintendent of the Anti-Corruption and Misconduct Division of the ACMSD, arrived at the Office of the Attorney General to hand over the investigation file in a crucial case against Pol. Gen. Surachet Hakparn, or "Big Jok," and his associates, for the offense of jointly bribing public officials. The handover involved a large volume of documents, totaling 45 files packed into more than 23 cardboard boxes. The investigation team meticulously compiled the evidence to ensure fairness to all parties.

This case stems from an investigation that revealed the suspects handed over more than 246 baht weight of gold to officials in the hope of obtaining assistance or favoritism in the case. Investigators from the Anti-Corruption Division have continuously gathered evidence and concluded that indictment is warranted. The case file was submitted to the prosecutor for consideration today.

Following this, the Director-General of the Anti-Corruption Division of the Public Prosecutor's Office will establish a working group to thoroughly review the case file to determine whether the evidence is sufficient to file charges in the Central Criminal Court for Corruption and Misconduct. This is considered another major case that has garnered significant public attention due to its involvement of high-ranking police officers and a massive amount of bribes.
