Royal Thai Police Introduces New Disciplinary Regulations

Tunis:Police Major General Siriwat Deepo, spokesperson for the Royal Thai Police, announced that the Royal Gazette published new regulations concerning the Police Commission's disciplinary procedures. These regulations, effective from October 13, 2026, replace 11 previous regulations and one existing regulation, aiming to ensure clarity, fairness, and standardization in disciplinary operations and administrative procedures.

According to Thai News Agency, the new regulations are aligned with the National Police Act B.E. 2565 (2022) and consolidate essential disciplinary principles into a single document. This document addresses investigation, inquiry, punishment, and reporting of disciplinary actions and includes transitional provisions for clear implementation.

The regulations establish criteria for initial evidence review and consolidate key principles for fact-finding and serious disciplinary investigations. They reference the Police Commission's Fact-Finding Regulations B.E. 2556 (2013) and Investigation Regulations B.E. 2547 (2004). Furthermore, for serious disciplinary offenses, if certain criteria are met, the commanding officer is authorized to take immediate disciplinary action without forming an investigation committee.
