Kab cheing: The Royal Thai Army has explained the incident in which a soldier shot and injured two villagers in Kab Cheing, but the suspect is still unaccounted for. Officials are actively searching for the suspect and have urged the public to notify authorities immediately if he is spotted.
According to Thai News Agency, the incident occurred in Kab Choeng District, Surin Province, on August 15, 2025, at 12:45 a.m. Soldiers from the 1623rd Infantry Company reported hearing ten gunshots near Ban Khuen Kaew Temple. Shortly after, two additional gunshots were heard at 12:54 a.m. An inspection revealed that Private Ratthaphum Thepsiri had left his base unauthorized, taking with him a rifle and ammunition.
Officials found two injured individuals at the scene. Mr. Anuwat, 32, was shot in the right lung and is in critical but conscious condition, receiving treatment at Surin Hospital. Mr. Wutthana, 35, sustained injuries from glass shrapnel on his left foot and is in stable condition. Both victims were initially treated at Kabchang Hospital before being transferred for further medical care.
Police and soldiers have inspected the area and interviewed witnesses. While Private Ratthaphum is suspected to be the perpetrator, his motive remains unclear. A search team has been deployed, but the suspect has not yet been located. The Royal Thai Army has called upon local residents to report any suspicious activity or individuals to authorities as they continue their search and investigation.
