Bangkok: Saroj Puengramphan, Secretary-General of the National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC), has revealed that the relief bag case involving Deputy Prime Minister and Energy Minister Pirapan Salirathavipak is currently in the defense phase. The case pertains to allegations of serious ethical violations by Pirapan in distributing state-supported relief bags for flood victims, which featured his picture and name.
According to Thai News Agency, the NACC is in the process of clarifying these allegations. Pirapan has the option to respond either verbally or through written documentation. This follows the NACC's previous action of sending a notice of charges to Pirapan after he failed to appear to acknowledge them.
Mr. Saroj emphasized that the proceedings are still within the NACC's stipulated timeframe. He also clarified that no additional cases or indictments have been made against Pirapan at this time.
